Kanonkop - Kadette Pinotage 2021

W.O. Stellenbosch, South Africa

Vineyard Story

Kanonkop has been described by those in the know, as the 1st Growth from South Africa. We focus on producing top quality Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon, from the lower slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch.

Kanonkop, a farm named after a small hillock containing a signal cannon, produces some of the most iconic wines from Stellenbosch.

First producing wines in the early 1940's, which were used in well-known wines of the day by Stellenbosch Farmers Winery, the brand "Kanonkop" was then established in 1973 when the first vintage of the Estates Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon were produced.

Later, in 1981, the top Bordeaux-Style blend of Paul Sauer was created, named after the second generation owner of the property, grandfather to the current owners. And in 1985 the first vintage of the Estate's second label- Kadette was
made. Kadette, now a truly Stellenbosch wine, produced from grower vineyards across the town is a South African favourite. Enjoyed at dinner tables where friends and family get together, and often on first dates in the university town of Stellenbosch or later wedding celebrations.
