Mâcon Rouge - Julien Besse 2022

Mâcon, France

Vineyard Story

In the commune of Péronne, between Mâconnais and Clessé, Julien Besse established a 16-hectare estate with an innovative approach to his vineyards. When he started, he chose to prioritize respect for the land and the environment, a decision that was met with skepticism at the time, but one he has never regretted. He implemented permanent ground cover, limiting deep plowing and sowing cover crops. Only green fertilizers are used.

Today, his goal is to expand agroforestry by planting trees within his plots, and he is taking courses to further his knowledge of this practice. His sustainable vision of viticulture is now paying off, both ecologically and economically.
