Famille Todeschini - Château Mangot 2019
Vineyard Story
In 1980, Anne-Marie, the youngest of the PETIT sisters, interrupted her pharmacy studies to join the family estate.
In 1981, she married Jean-Guy Todeschini, a stonemason and artisan who gradually began assisting her at Mangot.
Until 1989, Anne-Marie and Jean-Guy divided their time between their two family businesses and raising their two sons, Karl (born in 1982) and Yann (born in 1984)—two budding winemakers.
Between 1989 and 1998, they transformed the Mangot vineyard through restructuring, replanting, terracing, and drainage work, ensuring steady quality improvements year after year. This effort earned the estate the Grand Cru classification across its 34 hectares.
In 2001, they modernized all the buildings on the property—a return to his roots for Jean-Guy, a stonemason and architect at heart.
From 1996 to 2008, they traveled across France and internationally to promote the new image of Mangot and build relationships with new partners.
Through their dynamism and hard work, combined with their fresh perspective on the wine industry, Jean-Guy and Anne-Marie brought a true renewal to Mangot by restructuring the vineyard and winery with one clear goal: Quality.
Appellation : Saint-Émilion
Saint-Émilion is located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, near the Dordogne River, and is known for its historic town and rolling limestone hills.
The region primarily focuses on Merlot, which thrives in the clay-limestone soils, often supported by Cabernet Franc and occasionally Cabernet Sauvignon.
Saint-Émilion benefits from diverse soils, including limestone plateaus, clay-limestone slopes, and sandy soils closer to the Dordogne River. This terroir diversity contributes to the complexity of its wines.
